METHODIST CHURCH
MEMBERS FAREWELLED. At the close of the service in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening last, the Rev. F. J. Parker made mention of the impending departure of two of the young men of the church, Messrs Allan Handyside and Rex Daniell. On behalf of the congregation, Mr Jkirker wished them both Godspeed in their new ventures and spoke of the appreciation of their services and helpfulness in the church and Sunday school and Bible classes. Mr Handyside is being transferred to Kaitaia, while Mr Rex Daniell is proceeding to Wellington to enter the Air Force. On Monday night last a social gathering was held in the Methodist Parsonage to farewell these young men and wish them well in their new spheres. After a happy time spent together, the Rev. F. J. Parker voiced the i'eelings of those present, and made a presentation of suitable volumes to each of them. The young men suitably replied, and the gathering terminated in the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.”
