MINIATURE RIFLES FINAL COMPETITIONS OF SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final gathering of the season will be held on Tuesday evening when two competitions will be held, a ten-shot round and a seven-shot. In one of these competitions a valued prize will be given for the most absolute central “bulls” registered. The trophies won during the season will be presented at the supper adjournment. A suggestion has been made that a match should be arranged between former members of the club and present day members. If this can be brought about it will be fired on Tuesday week. CONCERT & DANCE GATHERING AT PARKVALE. The largest crowd ever assembled was present at the Parkvale Hall last evening when a very successful concert and dance was held in aid of the funds of the Parkvale Institute, which will benefit very materially. The stage was prettily decorated and arranged for the occasion, the footlights being excellent. The concert opened with a chorus by junior members, all being dressed alike in very pretty frocks of gold and maroon, the Institute colours. Ten members took part and sang “Ten Pretty Girls” and “Here We Are Again.” The performers were Misses J. Warrington, M. Adlam, W. Hammond, S. Rayner, L. Rayner, A. Williams, W. Rose, W. Williams, E. Brassell and H. McKinnon. The choruses were a credit to Mrs C. V. Downes and Mrs R. Williams who coached the performers. This was followed by a humerous recitation by Mrs J. A. Roberts. Children of the Institute members then delighted the audience with two Dutch songs, the children being dressed as Dutch girls and boys. Miss L. Rayner took the solo. Miss Pat Jensen gave a tap dance in “Little Baggy Breeches.” Mr L. Nolan delighted those present with two items. A humorous play by members of the Drama Circle was much appreciated, the play being entitled "The Old Lady Mixes Her Muddles.” Those taking part were (Mrs W. Adlam, Mrs N. Peacock, Miss M. Adlam, Miss H. McKinnon. Mr E. T. Bliss followed with a solo well rendered and a tap dance and skipping dance was given by Miss B. James. Miss L. Rayner sang two songs delightfully. Mr G. Potter rendered humorous songs and also led the audience in community singing. The Drama Circle pleased the audience with a play entitled "Zoological,” those taking part being Mrs E. Rose, Mrs W. Hammond, Miss E. Brassel, Miss J. Warrington and Miss L. Rayner. The scene was set at a breakfast table and much amusement was caused when Miss J. Warrington in a fit of rage with her father (Mrs E. Rose) ended the play by taking the table cloth and sweeping its contents, food and crockery, everywhere. Mr Tui Renall was enthusiastically encored when he sang cowboy songs, accompanying himself on the guitar. Mrs N. Peacock then gave a well rendered recitation. An excellent concert was concluded by the junior members singing a chorus, “A Beautiful Lady in Blue” all being dressed in long frocks with the exception of Miss W Rose, who took the part of the beautiful lady. She looked charming in a blue net evening frock with blue bat and carrying a posy. As an encore item they sang the Institute _ song “Comrades and Friends.” The singing of the National Anthem brought the concert to a close. ■ The accompaniments were played by Mrs R Williams, Mrs N. Peacock, Mrs D'. Adams, Mrs E. Martin, Miss M ; James and Mrs H. Hayes. Mrs D. Adams announced the various items for the concert. During the evening sweets made by members were sold by children. After the concert the floor was cleared for' dancing. Members served a dainty supper which, owing to the large crowd, necessitated several sittings. , Mrs V. J. Ashton supplied excellent music for the dance and Mr J. Ashton acted as M.C. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr B. Taplin and Miss Sage.-The lucky spot dance was won by Mr C. Jensen and Miss P. Renall. A pen painted cushion, the gift of Mrs F. W. George, was won by Mrs N. Peacock. Personal Items. Mr Jas. F.
