MILITARY FORCE

ENROLMENTS IN MASTERTON. DISTRICT RECRUITS TOTAL 231. District enrolments in the special military force for service in New Zealand or overseas now total 231. The latest recruits are: —R. J. Wade (Carterton), W. C. Ballinger (Carterton), T. E. LeMay (Tinui), M. E. Morgan (Masterton), E. Boys (Masterton), R. O. Baird (Martinborough), C. S. Shirley (Hinakura), C. E. B. Clemas (Masterton) . Officers who have enrolled in the special force include Colonel H. B. Maunsell of Masterton and Lieut. C. C. Johansen, formerly of Masterton. Recruits who have offered for serviep in British naval or military forces are: Basil A. Marshall, Edward R. M. Button, Francis J. F. Heaven, Lachlan Mackintosh, all of Masterton. To date 171 men have been medically examined in Masterton. Of that number 127 have been classed as fit, eight temporarily unfit and 36 unfit.
