OBITUARY
MR HUGH JOHNSON. The death occurred at his residence, Bentley Street. Masterton, yesterday of Mr Hugh Johnson, a well known and highly respected resident. He was born 83 years ago at Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland. He was married at Larkhall, Scotland. 61 years ago and later came to New Zealand, residing for a number of years in the South Island. He then came to the North Island and was employed by the Manawatu Railway Company. Later he joined the Government Railway Department and his last 15 years of employment was spent at the Opaki Station. On his retirement 15 years ago he came to live in Bentley Street, Masterton. His wife predeceased him four years ago and a daughter 20 years ago. He leaves five sons (Messrs Robert, Dunedin. J. P., Christchurch. Hugh, Taihape, Alex, Wellington, and Thomas A. Johnson, Auckland) and two daughters (Miss Ivy Johnson, Masterton, and Mrs A. Benton, Whakatane).
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock.
