Berlin correspondent says the warship Schleswig Holstein opened fire from Danzig Harbour upon the heights above Gydnia, which has still not surrendered, but the absence of a reply indicated that the Poles are short of ammunition. Between two and three thousand defenders in the vicinity of Gdynia are maintaing the fight against superior forces on the Oblosz heights, west of the town and also in the village of Ochshoeft, “waiting,” as captives said, “for the British to arrive.” HEROIC DEFIANCE MESSAGE TO WARSAW 'FROM BRITAIN. Once again Poland has fallen a victim to the aggressive designs of her neighbours. Once again she, by her heroic defiance of the invaders, has become the standard-bearer of liberty in Europe. We. your allies, intend to continue the struggle for the restoration of your liberty. Please reply to this message if you can during the night.”
