WHEREABOUTS OF POLISH GOVERNMENT REPORTED FLIGHT TO RUMANIA. POSITION STILL OBSCURE. CERNAUTI, September 18. President Moscicki of Poland, Colonel Beck, and other members of the Government, fled into Rumania yesterday and are now in Cernauti. Diplomatic circles believe they are on their way to Constanza and thence to France where the Polish Government is being established somewhere in the West. Large sections of the Polish army were pouring across the frontier early this morning, following the flight of President Moscicki and the apparent collapse of the Republic. . The exact position of the Polish Government is still obscure, stated a Daventry broadcast at 11 o'clock last night, but reports from Kuuty, on the Polish-Rumanian border, state that the Polish Government is still functioning on Polish territory at Kuty, which is its temporary headquarters. Fighting against the German aggressor is continuing. In spite of their 70 divisions, an air superiority of 10 to one, and colossal superiority in mechanised troops, the Polish armies, it is stated will give battle and fight on. FUGITIVES IN LATVIA SIXTY POLISH PLANES CONFISCATED. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.rn). RIGA. September 18. Over 60 Polish warplanes arrived and were confiscated, and the crews interned. (Received This Day. 9.15 a.m.) BERLIN, September 18. With the High Command claiming the complete collapse of the Polish front. German and Soviet troops are about 50 miles apart. A communique states: The Polish campaign is approaching its end. Lublin has been conquered and Lwow encircled. The High Command at Warsaw failed to send negotiators to arrange for evacuation before the city was stormed. The bombardment of Warsaw has not begun as it is reported that civil war had broken out in the capital, one of the groups wanting to surrender and the other wanting J to carry on. The Germans are •awaiting the outcome.
