Results of Week-end Racing THE CARDINAL SCORES IN AVONDALE CUP JOHN GRIGG STAKES WON BY GOLD FLIGHT (BY “CARBINE.”) Three race meetings were held in New Zealand on Saturday, ,wo in the North Island and one in the South. In every case the weather was fine. At Avondale the principal winner was the brilliant The Cardinal, who scored in the Avondale Cup in convincing style. A minor surprise was created in the Avondale when Lovaals carried off the honours.
At Foxton, Quadroon signalled a return to form by annexing the Carnarvon Cup. The Ashburton meeting saw Night Dress win the Ashburton Handicap, while Gold Flight was first home in the Grigg Stakes.

Favoured by a fine bright day, the spring meeting of the Foxton Racing Club held at Awapuni on Saturday was a great success. The totalisator handled £18,409 10s against £12,295 10s last September, when the meeting was held at Foxton, the increase being £6114. Results: —
