WEDDING

♦ RICHARDS—HATHAWAY. (“Times-Age” Special ) A very pretty wedding took place last Thursday evening in the Anglican Church, Martinborough, of Meta Kathleen, elder daughter of Mr and the late Mrs A. D. Hathaway, to Stanley Lewis, second son of Mr and Mrs Richards, of Waitara. The Rev F. O. Ball conducted the marriage ceremony and Miss K. Smith played the wedding music. The church had been tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a cream satin frock made close fitting with a full train, heart-shaped neckline and long tight-fitting sleeves, with a row of tiny covered buttons from the elbow to the wrist and from the neck to the waist at the back of the bodice. She wore an embroidered tulle veil arranged with a halo of orange blossom and carried a bouquet of giant cream freesias, hyacinths and winter roses with touches of mauve lilies and fern. Miss Ella Spiers and Miss Dora Hathaway who attended the bride, were dressed -alike in a cyclamen shade of taffeta made with tight-fitting bodices and heart-shaped neckline, full puffed sleeves and very full skirts. They wore bandaus of flowers in their hair and carried bouquets, in shades to match their frocks, of cyclamen winter roses, primroses and fern.

Mr A. Friend was best man and Mr A. Whiting groomsman, while Mr O. Grant was usher at the church.

A reception was later held in the Parish Hall, where Miss Hathaway, aunt of the bride, received the guests assisted by Mrs Richards, mother of the bridegroom. The latter wore a navy blue ensemble and accessories to tone and carried a bouquet of old rose shades of carnations, stocks and purple anemonies. Miss Hathaway was attired in a brown ensemble with’accessories to tone and she carried a bouquet of red anemonies and blue hyacinths. When Mr and Mrs Richards left later on their honeymoon the bride was travelling in a green costume with accessories to tone. The future home of Mr and Mrs Richards will be in Masterton.
