MORE GERMAN ATTACKS REPULSED. TRANSFERENCE OF TROOPS «. . FROM POLAND. (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) PARIS. September 17. An official communique states: “‘The enemy attacked at two points on our front line yesterday. One attack was east of the Moselle Valley and the other in the centre front between the Saar and the Vosges. These attacks were repulsed. The latest reports confirm the arrival on our front of further German forces from the Polish front, principally aviation and heavy units.” AACHEN EVACUATION. CIVILIANS TO JOURNEY ON FOOT. (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) ' BRUSSELS. September 17. All families in Aachen have been instructed to evacuate. Only aged and infirm are allowed to travel by train or car. Others, including children over twelve and women without children, must walk on the journey to Cologne, which will take three days. Each i , person must carry his' or her . own food, and a maximum of 33 pounds of luggage. All other property must be abandoned. The inhabitants are warned that efforts to escape into Belgiutn or Holland would result in confiscation of all their possessions.
