BOROUGH OFFICES
ALTERATIONS UNDER WAY. Structural alterations are being made in the Masterton Borough Council office preparatory to effecting a combination of the general office and the gas department staffs. The change is being made in accordance with a proposal by the Town Clerk, Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith, which was adopted by the council.
It will be some time before the full scheme is completed but it is intended to rearrange the office layout and accommodate the whole staff in one enclosure, with a central receiving desk for all borough business. In order to give effect to the scheme, it is necessary to remove portion of a wall at present partly separating the general office from, the gas office. It is also intended to have a door giving direct access to the public office from Chapel Street.
