WAIRARAPA SOCIETY MEETING ALLOCATION OF SPECIAL PRIZES. NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Waira* raps and East Coast P. and A. Society was held at Carterton today, Mr R. R. Tilson presided over an excellent attendance of members. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £672. Accounts passed amounted to £7B 19s 9d. The New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheep Breeders’ Association advised that it had decided to allocate the North Island Spring Show Championship Shields for competition at the coming Wairarapa Show. “Two shields are awarded, one foi the champion Romney Marsh ram and the other for champion Romney Marsh ewe,” stated the letter. It was further stated that sheep competing must be registered or eligible for registration in the Association’s flock b< Thc Marton District Agricultural and Pastoral Association advised that its Centennial Show would be held on January 24, 1940. The Rangitikei Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote stating that its Centennial Show would be held on February 22 1940. The secretary of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board advised that the board had authorised a grant of £lO to the society towards the prize money in the chiller cattle class. Advice was received from the Wairarapa Jersey Cattle Club that it had decided to donate £lO towards the prize money for the Jersey classes. It was decided to grant the club the use of the showgrounds for its annual bull sale free of charge. Mr A. E. Reid wrote stating that he had pleasure in accepting nomination gs the society’s representative on the Wairarapa Training Farm Committee. , , . The Avrshirc Callie Breeders Association of New Zealand wrote advising that the Association had decided to nllncate to the Wairarapa Show two British Medals, which are to be awarded <o the champion cow and champion bu’ 1 of the Ayrshire section. Three n”w members were elected.
