RUGBY AFFAIRS
MEETING OF, WAIRARAPA UNION. DATE OF REDMOND CUP FINAL. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr H. A. McPhee (chairman) presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union, held in the P. and A. Building, Carterton, last evening. There were also present Messrs S. Henson, L. Pearson, K. Reid, K. G. Fairbrother, ' H. B. Booth, M. J. Parker, B. Welch and the secretary, Mr E. McKenzie. The treasurer’s statement showed a credit balance of £lOB 11s 2d after accounts amounting to £49 7s lid had been passed for payment. The secretary of the Manchester Un ity Order of Odd -Fellows, Masterton, wrote thanking the Union for its courtesy in making Memorial Park available for the match with Dannevirke Odd Fellows and notifying that the match had now been abandoned owing to unforseen circumstances. It was resolved that the letter received from the Featherston Football Club in regard to the junior team members playing third grade be referred back to the club for further -expla - nation. It was resolved that in future games all team cards must be sent into the Union secretary after each game had been played. The manager of the Wairarapa senior representative team which played Manawatu at Palmerston North or Saturday last reported upon the trip He had no apologies to make but the team that travelled was not Wairarapa’s full strength owing to sickness and other disabilities. The team wa; well treated by the Manawatu Union for which he moved a hearty vote o< thanks be accorded to the Manawatu. Union. This motion was carried. It was reported that all arrangements had been made for the matcl with Wellington at Wellington on Sat urday next and that the Wellington Appointment Board would appoint the referee.
It was decided that the final matcl for the Redmond Cup. Carterton x Gladstone, be played at Gladstone or September 23. commencing at 2 o’clock It was resolved that the applicatioi of the Masterton Club for the use of Memorial Park on October 7 for r match during "Keep Fit Week” be granted. A deal of discussion took place re garding the grazing of the Union’’ grounds during the off season and tffi matter was left in the hands of Mas terton delegates., The next meeting was fixed for Thursday. October 5.
