GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSALS. BEING LAID BEFORE HOUSE - TODAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. ' The House of Representatives met today at 10.30 a.m. When the Supplementary Estimates were introduced by Governor-General’s message, the Act-ing-Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, in a. brief statement before routine business commenced, said members must be given time to examine the Supplementary Estimates which therefore would be taken this afternoon at 2.30. Today, said Mr Fraser, he would be in a position to make a statement on the general effort of New Zealand in connection with the war, and the Minister of Finance would be able to give an outline of the finance connected therewith.

The Attorney-General (Mr Mason) moved that the Summary Penalties Bill be committed, stating that the objective of the Bill was to avoid automatic imprisonment in, default of the payment of fines. The Summary Penalties Bill, the Legitimation Bill, the Domestic Proceedings Bill, the Municipal Association Bill and the Taieri River Improvement Amendment Bill were rapidly put through all stages during the morning, and the Washing-Up Bill and the Patents Designs and Trade Marks Amendment Bill were introduced by Governor-General’s Message. The House adjourned at 12.45 p.m.
