MAORI CONCERT

FINAL PRESENTATION LAST NIGHT. A crowded house greeted the final presentation by the Gladstone and Papawai Maori concert party in the Opera House last night.. The performers were in excellent form and responded to frequent demands for encores.

Prior to the final scene, Mr Manihera, Maori stage manager, thanked the pakehas for their valuable assistance, in particular Messrs W. G. Perry and A. Carstens.

Mr Perry, who said the concert would show a profit for the Papawai ( pa fund, thanked the Masterton Savage Club orchestra for its services. Mr Perry expressed the wish that the talented Maori performers would be seen when future patriotic concerts would be staged.

Mr Perry announced amidst applause that the Gladstone Women’s Institute had donated £2 6s Bd.
