RETURNED SOLDIERS

ASSOCIATION OFFERS SERVICES TO GOVERNMENT. ASSURANCE OF FULLEST CO -OPERATION. The following letter received by the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association is published for the information of all returned soldiers: — New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association (Inc). To all Associations. Britain at war: . . • At a special meeting of the Dominion Executive Committee held today (September 4) the following resolutions were passed:— “That the N.Z.R.S.A. congratulate the Government for so promptly standing behind Great Britain and s>thei parts of the Empire in the present war and following on the numerous individual offers of its members for service now offers the services of the association to assist the Government m such manner as may be necessary. “The N.Z.R.S.A. being mindful of tne feelings and thoughts experienced by its members in 1914 desires to say to those who may be called upon to follow in their footsteps and with whom some of its members may probably march again, that the association pledges itself that all its experience and influence will be directed to ensure equality of sacrifice in every way. as far as this is possible; and further that at this time and at all times it will follow the fortunes of its successors with ,the greatest confidence and has no doubt that they will prove more than worthy of performing the great task that lies ahead of them.” It was also decided that the following cable be sent to Sir Gilbert Dyett, C.M.G., the Federal President of the Returned Sailors and Soldiers’ Imperial League of Australia, Melbourne: “Today Diggers of New Zealand look across the Tasman knowing that the spirit of Anzac will prevail again.” The letter is signed by Mr S. J. Harrison, general secretary.
