PLUNKET SOCIETY

MEETING OF MASTERTON BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket Rooms yesterday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames J. Caselberg (president), J. D. O’Connor, W. A. Michael, E. G. Norman, J. V. Gordon, D. Donald, C. A. Carmine, A. Ericson, E. Sortain Smith, A. F. Stewart, A. H. Falloon, H. H. Daniell, T. F. Watson and J. M. James. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames E. G. Eton, S. L. P. Free, T. Jordan, N. Irwin, R. Pilmer, J. M. Coradine, J. C. Broad, R. Miller and P. Nathan. A letter was received from the Public Trustee, Wellington, advising that £25 had been granted from the T. G. Macarthy Trust Fund. - The hon treasurer presented accounts amounting to £53 13s 6d for payment. The president said they had met in the shadow of a great calamity. She asked all members to do everything in their power to help the mothers, and to be prepared to give their services nationally when called upon. Thanks for gifts of clothing were expressed to the girls of Solway College, Mesdames Pearce, Beach, Blair, Reid (baby’s basket) and Miss S. Dean. The nurse’s report for the month stated: —Visits to office, adults, 351; babies, 316;' pre-school children, 61; telephone, 123; total 851. Visits, to homes, new cases, 55; old cases, 259; total 314. Pre-school children seen in homes, 50. New cases for month, town, 19; country, 2. Total number of babies on books, 418; pre-school children on books, 315. Outstations:—Tinui, Whareama, Langdale, Blairlogie, and Homewood. Two visits each. Visits to new cases, 5; visits to old cases, 24, total 29. Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East, Mauriceville West, Hastwells, Ihurana, Mount Bruce, Mangamahoe and visits to homes, 38. Pre-natal section, total visits, 27. ‘
