FEATHERSTON
RED CROSS SOCIETY ACTIVITY OF SEWING CIRCLE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A large number of ladies attended at the Odd Fellows’ Hall yesterday af - ternoon for the purpose of making clothes for soldiers. Several suits of pyjamas, already cut out by Mrs Stanley Burt, were distributed for-'sewing together. Through the courtesy of the headmastei’ of the school the childrenwill make scarfs on the looms, skeins of wool being distributed for that purpose. The response to the appeal was splendid, particularly as the weather conditions were most unfavourable. WEATHER CHANGE FAIR LAMBING PERCENTAGE. Following a fine warm rain on Tuesday night, the weather conditions suddenly charged to a cold southerly yesterday afternoon, accompanied by very heavy rain. This will check dockin* operations. So far only a fair lambing percentage has been recorded. SPECIAL MILITARY FORCE FEATHERSTON ENLISTMENTS. The following Featherston men have volunteered for service in the special military force: —Ivor Jensen, Maurice Neill, Ray Houghton, Norman Neill Oliver Willis, Harry Piper and Arthur Cook.
