The Duke and Duchess of Windsor arrived at Major Metcalfe’s house by car. They spent the night at Admiralty House, Portsmouth, in order to avoid a blackout drive. The Duke has issued a statement saying that he is staying in the country for a short while before taking up a war appointment.
