“LUCKY DIP”

f OPERA HOUSE NEXT WEEK. The proceeds from the Little Theatre Society’s production of “Lucky Dip” are to be paid into the Mayor’s Emergency Fund for patriotic purposes, and this in itself should ensure large returns. In the hope thereby to allow greater numbers to contribute, the Society has, for this production, reduced the prices of admission, while members of the Society are privately making additional contributions on reserving their seats. Apart from the patriotic aspect, the production promises to give patrons a generous return for their money. The merits of the play itself, and its light-hearted humour, would ensure this, even in the hands, of a less capable cast. The prospects are,, however, of a good play well performed. Rehearsals are proceeding very successfully and the selected cast, largely new to Masterton audiences, is proving itself a most suitable selection. A special find has disclosed itself in Mrs Fred Price, who portrayal of a lovable Cockney woman, is said to be exquisite in its humour. Mrs T. Jordan also has a congenial part, which she handles with great skill. The cast is a uniformly good one with whom the' producer, Mrs Rich, expresses herself as delighted. “Lucky Dip” will be staged in the Opera House on September 19 and 20.
