PETROL SUPPLIES

COUPONS FOR PRIVATE CAR OWNERS. ISSUE STARTS ON FRIDAY. The issue of cards of coupons to owners of private cars will commence on Friday at the Masterton and other post offices at which motor registration records are kept. These cards, each of which will have 48 coupons numbered consecutively from 1 to 48, will enable private car owners to secure supplies at any bowser station. Two types of cards are to be issued, a white one entitling private car owners to secure two gallons of petrol for each coupon and a pink one for motorcycle owners which will entitle them to one gallon of petrol for each coupon The Oil Fuel Controller will make announcements each month regarding the numbers of the coupons which vehicle owners will be authorised to tender for the purchase of motor spirits.

In order to obtain the cards of coupons, registered owners of cars will need to make personal application at the Post Office at which the records for the vehicles are kept. Owners should be able to give the registration number of their vehicles. Except in very exceptional cases, cards will not be issued to any other person but the registered owner. In cases where it is impossible to make personal application, a car owner may authorise another person to act on his behalf.
