Telephone communication between Auckland and Kaitaia has been greatly improved by the opening of a direct, circuit. Toll calls to Kaitaia were previously switched through Kaikohe or Whangarci. The new circuit will not only provide belter communication between the Kaitaia district and the city, but will also relieve the 101 l outlets of the other two ceiitres.
