PONGAROA

FIRE AT GARAGE BUILDING AND BUS DESTROYED. ("Times-Age” Special.) The garage and service bus of Mr G. T. Smith, at Pongaroa, were completely destroyed on Friday night by a fire which breaking out shortly after nine p.m., raged unchecked until after 11. A bucket brigade organised by nearby residents proved of no avail against the blaze, which had to be left to take its course, until the building, with the bus inside, was completely gutted. The loss includes the garage itself the passenger truck, and a considerable amount of tools and gear. The truck was covered by insurance.
