WIN FOR WESLEY In the annual.game for the Phillpotts Cup played on Saturday at Karori Park, Masterton Wesley defeated Wellington Wesley _.by 2 goals to 1. Both teams showed plenty of pace and play was very even throughout. Harrington and Bell goaled for Masterton. The cup was given by Mr R. Phillpotts for an annual competition between the Wesley clubs and although Masterton has always competed this is the first time they have been successful. The donor is the son of Mr A. Phillpotts, of Carterton, and learnt his hockey in the Wairarapa. WOMEN’S HOCKEY — REP TEAMS ENGAGED. Apart from the team which has been competing at the New Zealand tournament at Blenheim, Wairarapa had a junior and two senior rep teams engaged on Saturday, a senior and junior at Wellington while a senior team played at Palmerston North. JUNIORS DRAW. WAIRARAPA v WELLINGTON. The annual match between the Wellington and Wairarapa junior teams was played at Wellington on Saturday and after a very evenly contested game ended in a scoreless draw. This game was for a cup donated by Mi - J. Robertson, M.P., for annual competition between both associations, and as Wairarapa were the holders they retain the trophy. SENIOR GAME. WELLINGTON BEAT WAIRARAPA. In the senior game Wairarapa were completely outclassed in all departments of the game by Wellington and had it not been for the good work of the Wairarapa goalie the score would have been much higher. The Wairarapa teams were hospitably entertained by the Wellington Association both before and after the games. LADIES AT PLAY. WAIRARAPA BEAT MANAWATU. I Playing at Palmerston North the Wairarapa team proved too good for| Manawatu and won by 4 goals to 1. For Wairarapa Misses J. Thornton (3) and E. Burns scored goals. After the game the Wairarapa ladies were the guests of the Manawatu Association at afternoon tea before returning home.
