Hardly extended at any stage of the bout, Clarrie Rayner had little difficulty on Saturday night in retaining the lightweight boxing title against the Dunedin featherweight, Lex Greaney, who holds the New Zealand title in that class. Rayner won on a technical knockout in the eighth round.
