Some class horses will be engaged at the Canterbury Park meeting on Saturday. The Fying Handicap, six furlongs, has 14 acceptors, including Hybol, 9.2; Aureus. 8.7; Bramol. 8.7; Pearl of Asia, 7.9.

The Canterbury Stakes, w.f.a.. six furlongs, has six acceptors:—Gold Rod. 9.2; Brazant, 9.2; Mosaic, 9.0; Royal Prince, 9.0; Early Bird, 8.9; Beau Vite, 8.0.

The Canterbury Guineas, nine furlongs, has seven acceptors, all 8.5: — Dashing Cavalier, Tel Asur, Penthides. Marenga, Bonny Loch, Billposter, and Brown Bomber.

Royal Chief revealed a fine turn of speed on the Randwick tan track today, registering 361 over three furlongs. accompanied by his stablemate Moorsotis, Beau Repaire did a rousing mile in 1.45, Defaulter was let off with easy work. The local horses, Gold Rod, Mildura. Reading, Tel Asur, Denis, The Kaiser, Hilarious and Malagigi worked impressively. Te Hero will not appear at the Canterbury meeting, and this has caused some disappointment. Gold Rod has been scratched for the Epsom Handicap at the A.J.C. meeting. The four acceptors for the Memsie Stakes, w.f.a., nine furlongs, at the Caulfield races on Saturday, are:— Ajax, 9.11; Elanage, 9.11; Elgolea, 9.4; Ortelle’s Star, 8.13.
