MARTINBOROUGH

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY DANCE. 1

(“Times-Age” Special.)

The monthly dance held at the school evening under the auspices of the House and School Association was a great success. Although it was to be a screen and radio personality dance there were very few fancy costumes. Those in fancy dress were: lan Howat (Mae West), the winner; Ruby Lumley and Nola Prussing (Laurel and Hardy), the winning pair; Preston Hayman (Stepin Fitchich), Beryl Hayman (Anna May Wong), Bonnie Boyd (Girl of the Golden West), and Thelma Little (a Dead-end Kid).

Mrs Jamieson presented the prizes. The novelty dances proved very enjoyable. The Monte Carlos were won by Messrs R. McGaffin and H. Wilton and partners, and the Chinese Monte Carlo by Mr Seymour Brice and partner. The statue La Rinka was won by Mr lan Howat and partner.

The euchre tournament winners were: Ladies, Mrs Grimstone 1, Miss Kaio 2. Men, Mr Grigg 1, Mr Johns, Senr 2.

During the evening the two queens in the Centennial Public Swimming Baths Queen Carnival were introduced to the public by the Mayor (Mr C. W. Skill). Miss Kitty Smith, of Dyerville, is the Country representative, and Miss Joyce Grant the Town candidate. These two Queens were given an enenthusiastic reception and were thanked for standing in the interest of the town.
