The Channel steamer Queen of the Channel, crowded with a thousand holidaymakers, was recalled by wireless when seven miles from Boulogne. The Air Ministry has announced restrictions on flights of all civil aircraft in the United Kingdom. Prohibited areas include Invergordon, Weymouth and Scapa Flow. Business has turned so idle that. a number bf firms have sent their employees to the country until the situation is clarified. Many large City firms are already working in the country, refusing to risk the lives of their staffs in London. Stockbrokers are arranging for their staffs to leave London as soon as possible until the Stock Exchange reopens, probably for Buckinghamshire. DANUBE SHIPPING CHARTERED BY GERMANY. The Pope has ordered all Catholics throughout the world to pray for peace. A prelate stated that the Notes sent by the Vatican to diplomats were identical and contained new and more pressing insistence for a solution of the situation without war.
