SCOUT GROUP

ST. MATTHEW’S ANNUAL MEETING AN EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE. The sixteenth annual general meeting of the St. Matthew’s Scout Group was held at Masterton last night, there being an excellent attendance of supporters. The president (the Rev. E. J. Rich) referred to the great amount of work being done by all the Scooters and the committee, and stressed the importance of the true spirit of Scouting which was very evident in the Group. 'During 16 years' existence certain traditions have grown up which the present boys must surely try to preserve and feel it an honour and privilege to belong to the Group.” said Mr. Rich. Mr. Rich referred to the splendid work done by Mr. G. L. Thomas who had resigned from his positions as Group Scoutmaster and Rover Leader. Thanks were extended to the hon. auditor. Mr. A. D. Low, for his past services. It was decided to send a letter of goodwill to Mr. A. L. Askew wishing aim Godspeed and a return to good health. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, the Rev. E. J. Rich; vice-presidents, Mesdames N. Beetham. H G. Moser, B. V. Skeet. Miss K. Morrison, Messrs. W. A. Clarke, G. L. Thomas. S. L. P. Free, A. L. Askew. J. V. Dolan, W. Marshbank; committee, Mrs. G. C. L. Dickel, Messrs. A. M. Sanson, W. L. Hunter. H. Braggins. J. I-'. Jaine and Mrs. W. Marchbank (representing the Ladies’ Committee); hon. auditor. Mr. A. D. Low: hon. secretary, Mr. A. 11. Green. z\t a subsequent committee meeting. Mr. W. L. Hunter was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Group Coinmi lice. 11 was proposed to apply for war/ant.: for the two assistant Cubmasters.
