GOLF MATCH CARTERTON TEAM BEATEN. (“Times-Age” Special.) A visit was paid to the local links during the week-end by members of the Carterton Club, when a return match was played, the result ending in a win for the local team by seven games. In the ladies’ four-ball, Carterton won one game and Te Wharau three games; in the ladies' singles. Carterton won two games and lost seven.

In the men’s four-ball competition. Carterton won three games and Te Wharau won three, one game being all square; and in the men’s singles each side won six games and two were halved.

The following are the results, Carterton players being mentioned first in each instance: —

Ladies’ Four-ball. —Mrs. Booth and Miss Campbel] beat Mrs. Nitz and Miss Schofield; Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Forbes lost to Miss Taylor and Mrs. Foreman; Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Robinson lost to Miss M. Taylor and Mrs. Schofield; Miss P. Booth and Mrs R. N. Campbell defeated Mrs. Read and Mrs. A. McGregor. Ladies' Singles.—Mrs Booth defeated Mrs. Nitz; Miss M. Campbell lost to Miss P. Bannister. ■ The following is the draw for the first round of the championship, to be played this week:—Ladies: Mrs Nitz and Miss Vennell; Miss P. Schofield and Mrs. McKinstry; Mrs. Schofield and Mrs. Read; Miss M. Taylor and Mi's. A. McGregor. Mon: N. Kummer and R. Bannister; W. Kummer and N. Foreman; H. Paku and E. Nitz; M. Paku and 1. McGregor. WOMEN'S DIVISION A SUCCESSFUL DANCE. The annual dance organised by the local committee of the Women’s Division was held on Saturday evening and proved to be the most successful function yet held by that body, being well patronised by all the local residents and quite a number of visitors from Masterion and elsewhere. A strong committee of ladies, under the guidance of Mrs. B. F. Schofield, had all the arrangements complete. The supper, which was provided by the ladies, was a feature of the function, and well up to the very high | standard of the past. The committee ' wish to thank all those who contribut- i ed by donations and otherwise and helped to make the evening so enjoyable.

The music was supplied by Mrs. lan McGregor and Mr. R. L. McKinstry, extras being played by Miss J. McGregor. Mrs. Stevenson and Mr. F. McKinstry. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands of Mr. S. Grav.
