TIRAUMEA
'FOOTBALL AND HOCKEY ("Timcs-Ag' l ” Special.) On Saturday a football game was played between the married men and. the single mon on the school ground. The game, which was one of the best seen in Tiraumea this season, attracted a very large number of spectators. The married men’s team eventually ran out winners by 26 to 8 after a hard and fast game, in which their weight and experience told on their opponents. The teams were as follow:—-Married men: H. Seymour, T. Stephenson. N. Hislop, J. Smith, C. Belshaw, C. Raleigh, B. Churchouse, N. Wright. G. Laing, L. Bowering, M. Robbie, R. Houlbrooke, R. Harman, M. McManaway, J. Smith. Single men: G. Robbie, L. Blackley. L. Curtis, G. Richardson. C. Lambert. L. Wallis, F. Herbert, B. Belshaw, E. Olsen, B. Smith, V. O’Brien, B. Thomas. McDonald. B. Wright, E. Sorenson, Mudgeway, R. Sorenson. The game was ably controlled by W. Thomas. Pongaroa (the championship winners) has challenged Tiraumea’s married loam to a game next Saturday. During the week-end, there were played two hockey games of interest, when the Coast Pongaroa men challenged the Tiraumea ladies’ team, and the Coast ladies’ team challenged the Tiraumea men. As a handicap, all the men were dressed in women’s clothes. Both games were played at a fast pace and were watched by a big crowd. The first game was won by the Tiraumea men by 4 to nil. and the second game by the Coast-Pongaroa men by 2 goals to 1. The games were controlled by N. Hislop.
