Waterloo Coursing Cups.
The three Waterloo Cups, which have been won by Wairarapa dogs for the last three successive years, are now on display in the W.F.C.A. window, Queen Street, Masterton.
Record Price for Pumpkins. A record price of 4s 9d each or £2 17s a dozen, was obtained for pumpkins sold at auction in Napier this week. A member of a vending firm said the very high price was not surprising when it was remembered that rates had ranged from 2s up to nearly 3s Gd each for sonic time past. Pumpkins, like potatoes, are very scarce this year. The pumpkins sold at 4s 9d each were grown in the Bay View district. Meat Producers’ Board.
The postal ballot conducted by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board for the election of delegates to represent the various districts on the electoral committee, which meets in Wellington on August 30 and 31 to elect three producers’ representatives on the board, resulted in Messrs W. F. McLaren (Masterton) and M. McLeod (Martinborough) being elected for the Wairarapa district. Banking Position.
A decrease in the overseas funds of the New Zealand trading banks as at July 31 is shown in the kites! returns. Their net overseas assets at that date totalled £3.417.824. a decrease of £126.413 since June 26. On Monday last the sterling funds of the Reserve Bank stood at £5,452,895. an increase for tlte week of £21.777. Deducting overseas liabilities, the bank's net overseas assets at the beginning of this week amounted to £5,442,587. an increase since August 14 ol £17.898.
