GOLF COMPETITIONS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND (“Times-Age” Special.) -The first qualifying round for the golf championship was played on Saturday afternoon and will be continued next Saturday, the draw being posted in the club house. It is most essential that those who qualify complete by Saturday 26. and those who cannot play on Saturday may do so during the week.

The best ladies’ card in the first round was handed in by Miss Schofield with a gross score of 88. Mrs Nitz and Mrs Schofield being all square for second place with 89. In the men H. Paku, M. Paku, N. Kummer and I. McGregor,, with 77 each, qualified highest in the first round.

The net scores in both qualifying rounds and all rounds during the championship count for the handicap cups. The final round for the McGregor Cup children’s competition will be played on Thursday afternoon, when the ladies will provide afternoon tea for the players. Next weekend the annual match with the Carterton Club will be played, when the Carterton players will visit the local links. Play is to start at 11 a.m. sharp. WOMEN’S DIVISION ANNUAL DANCE. The'annual dance under the auspices of the local committee of the Women's Division will be held on Saturday evening next and commends itself to the ’support of everyone, as the proceeds will go to the funds of the housekeeping scheme of that body which is most deserving of support. Owing to adverse weather conditions about a month ago this function was postponed, and the ladies’ are making a special effort on this occasion. Given a fine night the success is assured. There will be novelty dances and competitions and the price of admission has been fixed at a very low figure.
