PIRINOA

GREEN & GOLD BALL A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fifth Green and Gold Ball, which was held in the Memorial Hall. Pirinoa. was a pronounced success, visitors being present from all parts of the Wairarapa and other districts. The weather was most unfavourable, but despite this the hall was packed. The building was brilliantly and tastefully decorated and was greatly admired by all. Mrs Una Thompson, who was responsible for the decorative work, was the recipient of many congratulations on her work. Loud speakers with an up-to-date amplifier were also installed in the building and this innovation was favourably commented upon by the large assembly. The queen contest resulted in Miss Betty Sutton, of Pirinoa, being elected queen of the ball. The crowning ceremony was performed by the Lord High Chancellor (Mr J. F. The dance music was supplied by Tom Udy’s Band, while extras were played through an amplifier. Mr Stan Mclntosh was M.C.
