WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. PROPOSED NEW BUILDING. At the last meeting of the Masterton West School Committee advice was received to the effect that the V7ellington Education Board had acceded to a request from the committee to be allowed to interview and consult the architect before the new school was built. It was decided to congratulate those responsible for their contributions to the recent art display and to the items on the concert programme. Satisfaction was expressed that such a large number of arts and crafts articles had been selected for display al the Centennial Exhibition.
The headmaster, Mr Farrell, reported that the roll number was 352. The display of work in the Municipal Hall had been a great success. He was extremely pleased with the high standard of work by the school's pupils. Four dozen blackboards had been granted for the Side School, though they had not yet come to hand. Miss K. Farrell had been appointed assistant for the remainder of the year and Miss Briscoe had been transferred. R. Abott had been selected for the representative team. The Railway Tennis Club was granted the use of the tennis courts. Accounts totalling £l4 17s Gd were passed. _____
