FRIESIAN CATTLE
ANNUAL SALE. Dalgety and Company, Palmerston North, conducted Major R. A. Wilson's annual sale of Friesian cattle on his property at Turakina. The cattle had wintered well and came forward in very good condition, specially in view of the extremely wet and rough weather experienced lately. The heifers on the the whole were particularly well grown, and for this portion of the offering there was quite good competition. The bulls were somewhat disappointing of sale and a number of the yearlings were passed in; it is somewhat early in the season for this inquiry, and they will doubtless find a ready sale later. The first heifer offered, "Mahoe Glenshira,” was disposed of to Mrs Raikes, Oroua Downs, at 134gns. “Mahoe Loch Tay,” with a very consistent record on the dam’s side, was sold to Mr J.’Kendall, Wanganui, at 20J-gns. “Mahoe Loch Trop,” to Mr K. J. Masters, Mt Biggs, at llgns; “Mahoe Loch Ray,” to Mi’ E. Christensen, Oroua Downs, at 16gns; “Mahoe Loch Katrine,” to Mrs Raikes, Oroua Downs, at 15gns; “Mahoe Loch Linnae,” to Mr K. J. Masters, Mt Biggs, at 17gns; “Mahoe Loch Victoria,” to Mr E. Christensen, Oroua Downs, at 25gns; “Mahoe Glenartney,” to Mr J. Kendall, Wanganui, at 8 gns; “Mahoe Loch Vale,” to Mrs Raikes, Oroua Downs, at 12gns; to the same purchaser, “Mahoe Loch Lomond,” at 15gns, and “Mahoe Loch Maben,” at 12gns, and “Mahoe Loch Boisdale,” at 94 gns; “Mahoe Glenelg,” to Mr G. O. Barber, Foxton, at lllgns; “Mahoe Loch Arcaig,” at 15gns, to the same purchaser; “Mahoe Loch Gilly,” to Mr E. Christensen, at 16gns; “Mahoe Loch Goil,” at 124gns to Mrs Raikes; “Mahoe Loch Inchard,” to Mr E. Christensen, at 294gns; “Mahoe Loch Farm,” to Mr G. O. Barber, at 23gns; “Mahoe Loch Alsh,” to Mr J. Kendall, at Bgns. A very good two-year-old bull, “Mahoe Lochinvar,” was disposed of to Tutty Brothers, Oroua Downs, at 12J gns; “Mahoe Loch Clunie,” to Mr Z. Boyden, Himatangi, at 12gns; “Mahoe Loch Aber,” to Mr F. Farr, Turakina, at 12gns; “Mahoe Loch Nagar,” to Mr G. O. Barber, Foxton, at 17gns (this was a two-year-old with a very consistent butterfat backing on the dam’s side). The yearling bull, “Mahoe Carnarvon Bay,” whose dam, for a period of 13 years, has a wonderful record of fat, was purchased by Mr Rowland Young, Aramoho, at 1.2 gns. Other yearlings bulls were disposed of at 10 gns.
