SCOTTISH DANCING
EFFORTS OF ST ANDREW SOCIETY APPRECIATED. It is always gratifying to obtain recognition and acknowledgment of the attainment of success, but especially so when the acknowledgement comes from a kindred body with similar objects. At last evening’s meeting of the Council of the Saint Andrew Society, a letter was read from the Wellington Caledonian Society expressing thanks for generous hospitality at the gathering at which the members of the Wellington Society were guests. The letter went on to express the enjoyment of the visitors of the entertainment provided. “especially the featured Scots dancing for all the guests.’’ The letter proceeds: “My Society recognises that you are making history in the realms of Scots’ sentiment and tradition by your gatherings, and trusts that the St Andrew Society will ever maintain its present high standard.” At the same meeting a letter was road from the Scottish Country Dance Association (of Edinburgh) congratulating the society on the success of its efforts to foster Scottish dancing.
