AMATEUR BOXING
ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON. SOME PROMISING COMPETITORS. Following on the revival of amateur boxing in Masterton, Mr E. Wilkinson ■has had a team of boys in action for the past 3 or 4 months. Several are showing good form and will be competing in Featherston tomorrow. The main bout between Billy Walsh, of Masterton, 9st. 51bs. and Steve Morris, of Featherston, 9st. 61bs. should provide an excellent contest as both boys are in good condition. It will be Walsh’s first fight for 2 years, but he should give Morris the fight of his life. Other local boys competing for the first time are H. Jones, B. Rutherford, B. Pauling and H. Thompson, who also should give their opponents a busy time. The two midgets competing are J. Edwards and L. Corlett.
In the near future it is proposed to run a tournament in Masterton in conjunction with the Wrestling Club, as the two sports have combined as one club to their mutual benefit.
