NAZIS IN U.S.A.
BUND LEADER QUESTIONED ANGRY WORDS AT COMMITTEE HEARING. VISIT TO HERR HITLER ' ADMITTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON. August 17. "Mr Chairman, this witness is unruly and is making .every effort to evade questions"—With this observation from a committee member there opened another day of angry clashing between Fritz Kuhn (leader of the Nazi Bund in the United States) and the Dies Committee, which is inquiring into un-American activities. In the course of today’s sitting Kuhn admitted that he visited Herr Hitler in 1936, making a 4000 dollar contribution to the Nazi funds.
Kuhn was particularly annoyed by questions bringing out that his brother is a member of the German High Court. "What’s that got to do with unAmerican activities?” demanded Kuhn, who during his testimony admitted that, the Bund attempted to arrange a United Front with other organisations similar to his own. “You can call them Fascistic; I call them patriotic,” he shouted.
