Mr V. K. Lemberg, of Mauriceville, who had been a patient in the Masterton Hospital, has returned home. Messrs Hayden (Palmerston North) and Dorizac (Wellington.) are visitors to Masterton, and are staying at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Mr H. M. C.' Macintosh. Commissioner of Crown Lands, is on a visit to Masterton, and is .among the guests at the Empire Hotel. Guests at the Empire Hotel. Masterton include J. A. Best (Shannon) and Mrs and Mrs S. Spencer (Palmerston North).
Mr Warren Burling, who was seriously injured in a motor accident near Carterton some days ago, underwent another operation yesterday. Mrs L. Nix, of Church Street, Masterton, celebrated her 80th birthday today. The occasion was one for a gathering of relatives and friends, who all joined in conveying their best wishes to Mrs Nix. Mr H. J. Brass, district manager of the A.M.P. Society, Masterton, has returned from his annual leave spent in Invercargill. Mr J. Weir, who has been acting district manager during Mr Brass’s absence, returned to Wellington today. Sympathy with Mrs A. F. Stubbs in the death of her daughter, Miss Eleanor Irene Stubbs was expressed by members of the Wairarapa Electric PPwer Board at the monthly meeting yesterday. The late Miss Stubbs was a member of the Power Board office staff.
Appreciation of the manner in which the staff had worked during the recent snowstorm was expressed by- members of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board at its meeting yesterday. Members stated that the conditions were exceedingly trying and the engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, was instructed to pass on to the staff the board's thanks.
The funeral of the late Mrs N. M. Osborne, which took place yesterday, was largely attended. Wreaths were sent by Messrs McKenzie and Marsack. Jenkins and Stains, and by the fellowworkers of Mr C. Osborne, besides many other floral tributes from relatives and friends. The Rev Father Moore conducted the funeral .service. The pallbearers were Messrs E. McCord. A. Mackay, T. Walker, J. Harris. I. Hart and M. McKenna, representative of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge. Catholic Church and fellow worker? of Mr Ocbuiiie
