OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM BROWN. The death occurred at Napier yesterday of Mr William Brown, formerly a well-known resident of Masterton, at the age of 74 years. The late Mr Brown was born at Uphill, Weston-Super-Mare. Somersetshire, England. He sailed from Plymouth and landed at Port Chalmers about 52 years ago. Coming to the North Island he was engaged in farming pursuits in the Taranaki and the Wairarapa districts. He was also interested in horse racing. For 20 years he was engaged in the dairy business in Masterton, and upon retiring about 5 years ago. he took up his residence in Napier. He is survived by two sons and four daughters. The sons arc Messrs D. Brown (Masterton) and L. Brown (Masterton), and the daughters are Mesdames L. King (Masterton). C. Murphy (Martinborough). T. Carver (Napier) and B. Hawkins (Napier). There are 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, leaving St. Matthew’s Church at 2.30 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
