DRIVING WHILE DRUNK
AND THEFT OF EGGS. MEN SENTENCED IN WELLINGTON (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Wilfred Lowe, a mechanic aged 37. was dealt with on a charge of driving while in a state of intoxication. The offence was committed a year ago, when accused and another man crashed into the back of another vehicle in the vicinity of Waverley. Accused was charged also with stealing eight eggs, while he was a cook at a Wellington restaurant, this being the offence I which led to his appearance on the! other charge. He was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment on each charge, to be served at the Auckland Gaol, it being intimated that ho was to appear in Auckland in connection with other offences.
A sentenced of fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour, with cancellation of his driver’s licence for twelve months, was imposed on Hugh Moorhead Marks, a motor mechanic aged 22, for intoxication while in charge of a car and driving in a manner which might have been dangerous.
