SALE CONSIDERED GENERALLY SATISFACTORY. LARGE ENTRY OF STORE SHEEP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. August 16. Though some sections scarcely maintained the rates ruling at the last sale, the stock market conducted in Addington today was generally very satisfactory. The entry of more than 3000 store sheep was’ the largest for some time, and values, except for ewe hoggets, were generally easier than a fortnight ago. A line of open-woolled ewe lambs sold at 25s 6d, and another at 255. A pen of two-tooth ewes brought 24s 6d for the best, and for sound-moutheds, 16s 3d. About 6750 fat sheep were entered. The good rates of the double market, when there was an advance to 3s a head, were practically maintained. Heavier wethers, however, were easier to Is a head. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 44s Id, prime heavy 29s 6d to 335, prime medium 25s to 28s 6d. light to 21s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes to 33s 7d, prime heavy 27s to 30s, prime medium 22s 6d, light to 18s. There was an entry of 566 fat cattle and the market eased to 20s a head on the rates of a fortnight, ago. Good beef sold to about 40s a 1001 b, the tops to 435, and medium 36s to 395. Extra prime heavy steers made to £2O 7s 6d. prime heavy £l5 15s to £l7, prime medium £l3 10s to £l5 ss, light to £lO 10s; extra prime heifers to £l5 7s 6d, prime £lO 10s to £l2 ss, medium £9 to £lO ss, light to £8 10s; extra prime cows to £l4 7s 6d, prime, £9 5s to £ll 10s, medium £7 to £9, light to £7. A full yarding of porkers was submitted and values declined by 2s to 3s a head. Choppers were in heavy supply, but met with keen competition. Baconers were forward in medium numbers, and the best quality fully maintained recent rates. Porkers made 37s 6d to 57s 6d, an average price a lb of 7d to 7.jd, and baconers, 57s 6d to £5 3s 6d, an average price a lb of 6.|d to 6:;d.
