COURSING
N.Z. WATERLOO CUP. The Waterloo Cup meeting which constitutes the championship of the 1939 season is being held at Hastings on the Longlands Plumpton commencing tomorrow' and continuing on Friday with the finals on Saturday. In conjunction with the Cup there will be the Waterloo Purse for dogs beaten in the first round of the Cup and Waterloo Plate for dogs beaten in the second round. Masterton’s entrants for this important event are Mrs L. H. Jones with The Slam and Flying Joe. Mr D. Wilson's White Gold, Mr R. N. Shaw's White Lie (N.S.) and Messrs James and Taylor's Dainty Footsteps. Another likely starter is Mr J. Bradbury’s British Pride (N.S.) The Cup this year will have the largest nomination for some considerable time, as not since 1921 has 64 been exceeded. When Frankton Club con - trolled the Australasian Waterloo Cup in 1921 the total entries were 70 the winner being that great greyhound Drew's Hope which came from Australia.
