CEMETERY FEES
AMENDMENT OF CHARGES. INCREASES IN MOST SECTIONS. On the recommendation of its Cemetery Committee, the Masterton Borough Council decided last night to amend the cemetery fees and steps are to be taken to have the relevant bylaw amended according. The amended interment fees range from 5s to £1 10s, with an additional charge if the interment takes place on Sunday or a statutory holiday, increases having been made in most cases. Fees for th a- purchase of plots have also been increased and now range from 10s to £5. The former charge for a permit to erect a tombstone has been discontinued but it is required that a deposit of £1 be lodged at the time of application for a permit for monumental work to be refunded to applicant provided the work is done in accordance with the conditions on the permit but forfeited if the work is left in an unsatisfactory state. In future all plots for the exclusive right of burial are to be paid for at time of burial.
