JUNIOR RUGBY

RED STARS SHAPE WELL.

LAST SATURDAY’S MATCH.

The Red Star junior Rugby team, which journeyed south and played Greytown on Saturday, had a win by 17 points to nil. Stars were without the services of Ted Morley, full-back, who is always a tower of strength to his side. However, Macaleice filled the vacancy and did his job fairly well. Stars, led by E. Grantham, dominated play for the greater part of the game, and by frequently getting possession in the scrum, made it possible for Stars to open up play. It was pleasing to see the way the forwards combined, and with snappy back play, they proved too solid for Greytown. Two good tries were scored, one by Rippon and the other by S. Hay, while a good potted goal was kicked by E. Grantham. A newcomer for Stars on Saturday was R. Rankin, an ex-High School player, who is a wing-threequarter. He showed great promise and has a good turn of speed. The forwards played their best game to date and of the backs, Mooney, Grantham, Rippon and Rankin were outstanding. The game was ably controlled by Mr C. Kendall, who was most impartial and correctly interpreted the rules. A practice will be held on Thursday night pt Memorial Park. t
