STAFF CONTESTS

GOLF AND BADMINTON. REGENT & COSY THEATRES. During the weekend teams representative of the_Regent and Cosy Theatres played a gbTf match for the Steel Shield —a trophy presented three years ago by Mr J. T. Steel for competition between the two theatres, at golf. The match was played at the Solway Golf links. After some hard, keen tussles the Cosy team won out by 5 matches 'o 3. The Regent Theatre had won Ihe shield on the two previous occasions. The competition was rounded ofl with a badminton match in the evening, when the Cosy Theatre team were again successful in a contest for a shield donated by Mr E. M. Patterson. The matches were all closely contested, Cosy winning on points. Supper was served by a ladies' committee. Details of the badminton games are. Cosy players mentioned first in each instance: — Men’s doubles: J. Lulham and B. M. Hurley boat ,1. J. Payton and R. B. Tanslev. 21'18; G. W. McCullough and C. J. Carle lost to C. Ross and F. Walker. 13/21. Women’s doubles: Misses M. Bell and! O. Eddy beat Miss N. Dixon and B. Turner. 21 'TO; Misses G. McCormick and B. McCord lost to Misses G. Anderson and E. Wickens. 19'21. Combined doubles: J. Lulham and Miss Eddy lost to J. J. Payton and Miss Turner. 14/21; G. W. McCullough and Miss McCord lost to F. Walker and Miss Anderson, 16/21; C. J. Carle and Miss McCormick boat C. Ross and Miss Wickens. 21 'l7; B. M. Hurley and Miss M. Bell beat R. B. Tansley and Miss Dixon. 21 'lO. Grand total. Cosy 4 matches, 146 points; Regent 4 matches. 139 points.
