WOMEN’S DIVISION BIRTHDAY PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) Members of the Martinborough Women’s Division entertained a large gathering of members and friends at a party held to celebrate their nineth birthday at the Parish Hall on Friday last. The hall was tastefully decorated with replicas of the Division badge, streamers in Division colours and bowls of wattle and spring flowers. Mesdames Holmes and Coleman assisted the president in receiving the guests.

In her welcoming address the president. Mrs A. Jamieson, said that the Branch formed in 1930 by the then Dominion President. Mrs C.' C. Jackson, had grown from ten to over one hundred members. Through the years a great deal had been accomplished and though the work was always done in a quiet way. so many people, especially mothers, had expressed their gratitude for help given, and particularly for housekeepers in times of need, that one knew it to be really worth while. Among those present were Mrs T. R. Barrer (Dominion vice-president), Mrs C. C. Jackson (Dominion treasurer), Mrs A B. Smith (Wellington. Dominion secretary), Mrs W. James (Masterton), Miss Card (Featherston). Mrs Donald James (Rangitumau), Mrs Lamb (Martinborough Women’s Institute), and members of Carterton. Greytown. Featherston and Pahautea branches.

The several speakers who extended birthday greetings during the ceremony of cutting the two-tiered birthday cake were presented by the president with shoulder sprays. During the afternoon enjoyable items were given by Mrs McKenzie (song), Carterton Drama Club (sketch), Betty Garrity (birthday song). Mrs Caverhill (humorous recitation), Diamy Walton (tap dance); accompanists, Mrs Piper and Miss K. Smith. A collecting signatures’ competition was won by Mrs Barrer. MINIATURE RIFLES WEEKLY COMPETITION SHOOT. Results of the Martinborough Miniature Rifle Club’s weekly competition shoot are as follows: —D. Flynn, 70, 0, 70; S. Harvey, 69. 3, 70; W.
