The friends of Mr H. J. Brass, of Masterton will regret to learn of the death of his mother, which occurred at Invercargill on Friday afternoon. The condition of the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, who underwent an operation in the Little Company of Mary Hospital (Lewisham), Wellington, on the morning of August 4, continues to be satisfactory. It was reported last night that Mr Savage had made good progress over the weekend. Captain B. Barrington, recruiting officer for the Central Military District, was in Masterton during the weekend on recruiting business and to make preparatory arrangements for a public meeting to be held concerning the formation of a Masterton Territorial Association. Captain Barrington left this morning for Hastings, Napier and Gisborne. and will-return to Masterton for the meeting to 'be held probably on Thursday week.
