OUTSIDERS SCORE AGAIN. Aylesbury Steeplechase. Hanover had no difficulty in carrying 12.8 to victory in the Aylesbury Steeplechase and after the first mile had been completed the result was never in doubt. He jumped brilliantly and stayed on too well for the others. At the last jump Glenvane was close enough but he was not good enough. Red Terror, who filled third berth, was the best of the rest. Longbeach Handicap. The Longbeach Handicap was run in two divisions. In the first division the race developed into a duel between Merry March and Kaiwaka, and in the last few yards the former ran to the fore to win by a short head, returning over three score on the win machine. Gold Salute scored an impressive win in the second division. Drawing the outside he was one of the first out and hung on splendidly to beat Lady Tinkle, who came with a run after being well back in the beginning. Night Pal and Rex Maitland battled grimly for third place and Phenomenal failed to run on at the right end. Sydenham Hurdle Race. Hot favourite in this race, Aussie Ra went under to King Rey. King Rey was restrained early but six furlongs from home he went to the front and had the race won from then on. Pink Robe showed good form and ran a really good race. Agog was never likely. Styx Hurdle Race. Piloted by the Masterton horseman A. Jenkins, Begorrah scored well in the Styx Hurdle Race. The winner was handy throughout, heading Esperance Bay after jumping the last fence. Esperance Bay and Dividend were on hand throughout the journey. Chat did not jump well and Tutor ran fairly. ’ Heathcope Handicap. Finishing too well for the opposition Wagner scored the surprise win of the day by annexing the Heathcope Handicap. Wagner was there all the way. Ned Cuttie, favourite on both machines was unlucky in that he was hemmed in in the early portion of the race. With only a furlong to go he made a bold bid. running into second money. Norseman ran a good race: so diet Hunting Mint. Lowenberg was never dangerous and Tidewaiter failed to run on. Lincoln (Steeplechase. About a mile and a quarter from home Gold Wren fell in the Lincoln Steeplechase and Slayer and Bridegroom were left with the course to themselves. The former stayed on too well and passed the post a neck in the lead. Both horses jumped splendidly. Redcliffs Handicap. The Wrecker, who scored decisively in this event, was placed handily throughout and at the distance the race was won. Windsor Chief, the each way favourite, challenged strongly but could not get up. Capricious ran a solid race to fill third position. Dancing Flame showed up early in the piece but faded over the last. Dranoel was never dangerous. Selwyn Handicap. Finishing brilliantly on the outside the place favourite in the Selwyn Handicap. Tooley Street crossed the line ahead of the rest of the field and thoroughly deserved his success.
