ANOTHER WIN FOR PADISHAH. HISTORY MADE AT RICCARTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. August 10. History was macle at Riccarton today on the second day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting, when Padishah won the Grand National Hurdle Race, not only for the second year in succession, but inscribing his name on the records as the first horse to win the Grand National double in the same year. He is also the only horse, except Agent, who won the Grand National Steeplechase three times, to have won three Grand Nationals. with four wins. Another record was established by the handicapper, Mr W. P. Russell, when three horses dead-heated for first place in the Islington Handicap. This is an exceedingly rare occurrence and. though it is not unprecedented in New Zealand, it is the first time that it has happened at Riccarton. The totalisator investments for the day were £46.612 10s (win £22,300, place £24,312 10s) against £44,595 10s on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £2,017.
